Building a new School? – we can help
Building a successful school environment requires the integration of a range of disciplines. As education advisers within the team, we can ensure that your new building is fit for purpose, for both the short- and long-term vision of learning.
Our services include:
Developing the Vision – what is the school’s vision for delivering learning in the short- and long-term? How will new technology (ICT) support that? Is there a specialism? Will a range of adults support learning? How much will learning be student-centred and personalised?
Undertaking Curriculum Analysis – how will the learning day be structured? What subject and vocational strands will be delivered? What will the high-level timetable look like?
Defining the Accommodation Schedule – what spaces will be needed to deliver the curriculum? How many, what size, with what facilities?
Design Support
We can work in conjunction with the design team to provide:
- design philosophy – designing for inclusion, flexibility, adaptability, personalisation, extended services and community use. Ensuring all space – formal, informal and circulation - contributes to
- design advice – the needs of specialist facilities and for integration of ICT
- design review - the DQI process, modelling of pupil flow, appropriateness for security, behaviour management
Stakeholder engagement – what are the needs and views of pupils, parents, staff, the authority, community users, local residents and businesses, and other stakeholders?

In addition there are a number of preparatory services that we can provide, normally to the body procuring the construction, to aid the effectiveness of the project:
Project objectives – what education performance indicators should the project address? What are the targets?
Option appraisal – is new build the best solution? Could funds be used differently to achieve the educational goals?
Place planning – how big should the school be? Is it in the right place to serve the appropriate community? Is it coherent with other schools in the locality?
Procurement – how should constructors’ bids be evaluated for educational appropriateness?
Above all, Cambridge Education will work in partnership with all parties to deliver an innovative, exciting yet practical learning environment for students.
