Academies

Creating a culture of first class learning and opportunity for every pupil

Cambridge Education has extensive consultancy experience in academies providing pre and post opening services to over 20 academy projects. Our consultants and education practitioners bring a wealth of experience and a real commitment to the Academies Programme. Our academies team prides itself in the delivery of the highest quality of service to our clients, coupled with a passion for improving the learning opportunities of every child throughout the UK.

Academies in brief:

Academies are independent schools, publicly funded to provide free education to children of all abilities across the country. Their leadership draws on the collective skills of a primary sponsor/s, the Department for Children, Schools and Families (DCSF) and other educational partners. An Academy will usually replace one or more schools facing challenging circumstances. Its design will be innovative, contemporary and above all pertinent to the educational requirements of its pupils whether in fully refurbished present school buildings or completely new facilities.

Bradford Academy

We provide 5 distinct services to the Academies Programme:

As a Project management company we are responsible for overall co-ordination and management of the project to set up the Academy.  This requires the bringing together of a wide range of work streams including education, ICT, legal, financial, marketing/PR and design/construction. It also requires relationships to be built between a wide range of stakeholders such as sponsors, national and local government, governors, staff, pupils, unions, and the local community.

As Education advisers we ensure that the design of all of the educational aspects of the academy (for example specialism, curriculum, organisation of the school day, assessment and mentoring) are supportive of the sponsor’s vision for the Academy and that they will be effective in transforming learning.

As ICT advisers we lead the development of the role that technology will play in supporting learning in the Academy, we prepare the necessary functional specifications and support the procurement of the equipment.

Our TUPE specialists help to match the staff of the predecessor school to the requirements of the Academy ensuring a seamless transfer for those who wish, and a high-quality recruitment exercise to complete the team.

We run the SEN Disputes Resolution service on behalf of the DCSF acting as a conciliation service between academies and local authorities over the placement of students with Special Education Needs.

We are members of the following academy frameworks:

  • DCSF Academies Project Management and Education Advisory framework
  • Oasis Education Consultancy Framework Panel
  • The National Society framework
